Leadership Encouragement

Mistakes can Teach You

Did you know that even your mistakes can teach you something?  Next time you feel you have made a mistake, ask yourself the following questions…..

For Grace, We are Thankful

I would like to take this time to thank the Lord for His grace that operated through the life of our friend Bob Harrison. Bob, a commercial airline pilot and president of Development Companions International, volunteered to fly with Victor Gomes from Seattle to New York on October 8th. Due to Victor’s extreme weakness we did not feel it possible for him to fly by himself. Bob made the flight arrangements and they flew stand by. Their route took them to Phoenix, AZ.

Help Lucy deal with Discouragement

Marge Couture, Sept 2001

Got your new newsletter. Thanks! I feel like I should be an expert on discouragement by now. However just this week I came home from a doctor's appointment with only a half pound weight lost after what I thought was a good week. I think I even made the Nurse Practioner Jean, that has been so helpful to me, feel discouraged.

Lucy needs real life giving worship

Lucy wants to be refreshed in the area of personal worship and prayer. Here is some help for her.

From Vancouver, WA
When I need refreshed in worship I tend to do several things. First I try to focus on God's attributes. Speaking who He is to Him, such as: You are my strength, my hope, my comfort, my councilor... always helps me to enter into His presence.

Organizing for the Year

The following is a “too true to life” scenario, that we as Christian Women leaders may or may not have faced. Can you send in your suggestions on how you would handle this challenge?

It’s the beginning of a year, Lucy is determined to be more organized this year. Here is some suggestions for Lucy from Sandy Phillips, Coupeville, WA.

When my husband and I got married, one of our first commitments to each other was to always live within our means so that when we had children, I could be a stay at home mom.

Reaching Out in Love

Lucy would like to reach out to other women in her church and community. She would like to hear how others have successfully done so; do you have some old tried and true ways that have worked in your area? Or perhaps some new creative means? What may seem obvious to one place, may be completely new to another!

Response to Lucy's situation from Marge Couture, Pastor's wife Trinity Assembly of God Hyde Park, Vermont

Looking for a Good Book?

Consider: The Importance of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian. If you are looking for a book to inspire you to pray for your husband to bring about growth, change and encouragement-this book will definitely help you on your way. This is not a book for wimps! She says the first thing that God begins to do when we pray for our husbands is work on us! Stormie shares her struggles and desire to strengthen her marriage and how God intervened and brought miraculous changes. I would encourage every leader to read this book- recommend to those struggling in relationships.

Stand Tall

Ladies, if we had been born a generation or so ago we would have been encouraged, prodded and demanded to have “good posture”. Perhaps, some of you had mothers, sisters, aunts or grandmothers who would admonish you to “stand up straight”, “walk tall” or “get your head up”. Some of you shorter women probably didn’t have this problem because you were always conscious of getting the most out of the height God had given you!
