Led or Driven?

Standing in a Sunday service, the communion table set before us, the worship team wonderfully leading us into His Presence with beautiful words and music, friends all around—when my mind and spirit were assaulted by this overwhelming sense of failure, worthlessness and torment. Tormenting thoughts of why aren’t you doing more for the Kingdom began to swirl around in my mind, making me feel so bad that I wanted to run from the service. I began to fight these thoughts by praying in the Spirit, deliberately focusing my mind on Him and rebuking Satan.

The Godly Gossiper

Carl and Sam were at odds with each other. They could not even remember the initial cause of friction...but their hostility had festered through the years. Pastor Fred was deeply concerned, so he prayed that God would use him as a peacemaker. Pastor Fred called on Carl. "What do you think of Sam?" he asked."He's the sorriest guy in town!" Carl growled" But," Pastor Fred replied, "you have to admit that he's a hard-working man." No one can deny that," said Carl. "I've never known a person who worked harder. Pastor Fred visited Sam.

Stormy Weather Ahead

Stormy weather ahead - How’s your emergency preparedness? Do you have your extra batteries, water and food? These are good things to have during the winter or in some regions even summer storm season. But just as there are natural seasons of physical storms there are other storms on the horizon. How prepared are you spiritually and emotionally for the current uncertainty in our world’s economy? Are you in a spiritual storm or relationship storm? We must prepare our minds for action and be able to rightly discern the times and seasons of our lives.

Hitting the Wall of Discouragement

Prepare your minds for action. I Peter 1:13

In meditating on this Preparing Your Mind for Action scripture I found myself struggling and struggling to break through into the truths I knew God was trying to reveal. I felt like the wall was soooo thick I could never breakthrough. There was a strong temptation to say, “Forget it.” Flooding thoughts of “why bother?” crashed over me, wave after wave. After all what is the point? Who cares?

Suddenly it dawned on me; I needed to Prepare my Mind! I had hit the wall of discouragement. So how do you prepare your mind for dealing with the discouraging wall?

Keeping REAL Women Relevant

Dear Real Women Readers! September 1998 was the launch date of Real Women! I realized that we have added many new friends to our readership in the past few years—and I have neglected to re-state the vision.

Why Real Women! As a title?
The title comes from my sincere belief that God uses ordinary vessels to do extraordinary things! To become a woman God can use to the fullest extent, we must first be REAL. This is a process of learning to trust Him enough that we allow ourselves to be transparent first to Him and ourselves and then to others. A real individual is one who is authentic, one who is genuine, honest and sincere. She is true to herself and to her God.

Overcoming Fear: Dealing with Our History

Dear Sisters, we are living in a time where God needs us to stand strong in our ways, our beliefs and our convictions.  He is looking for the Abrams and Sarais who are willing to leave their mother and father and journey to a land they don’t know.  He is looking for the Esther’s who will rise up and lay their life on the line for others.  He is looking for the Deborah’s who will stand and lead their armies—speaking faith and encouragement into the lives of those around them.  We, too, in our sphere of influence can stand strong and change our world.  What hinders us?  Why do we s
