The Question: In what ways have you implemented or put into practice the Pursuit of Excellence of Character into your life? How have you been challenged in giving this “Gift to the Lord.“?
From: Clinton, WA
Character always counts, because it (character) is what we do! Not just what we say. To pursue character we must have a good idea what we are pursuing. We must have an idea and goal, we must know what is good, to pursue that principal. The Ten Commandments are a good place to start, but unless we know the Character of God (the author of these commandments) then how can we trust these commandments to be our guide? If there is nothing “holy” in our lives why we should honor these commandments, why not just make up a few of our own? My personal experiences have taught me that God is Good, God is Holy and my relationship with Christ has expanded my understanding of his love for me. Jesus has given me the best example of Character so I strive to be like him. I must transform my ideas to God’s ways. I cannot do this alone. I reach out to God for help, another way to grow closer to him and I receive his help. Pray and grow closer, learn (from the Bible) and be “upright” and please the Lord. The best of the “self-improvement “ plans..God’s Plan. Most of all I pray for continued guidance in my daily walk on this earth, so many challenges bombard my daily walk, and my flesh has every answer...every wrong answer that is. My “continuous” prayer is my connection with the author of every right answer.

Today I received Real Women! What a blessing it was to read the wrestling article! I had just been talking to a brother on the same subject, and plan to pass on a copy to him. We had talked about using God’s Word to battle the thoughts we are having. Find Scriptures on the area you need help (fear, peace, strength, etc.) and use them to pray God’s Word, to claim God’s Word and hold on to it, even when the circumstances seem more real to us. His Word is truth, and we need to hold on to it until it becomes more real to us than our feelings or situations. God is faithful to His word to perform it. A favorite quote is: “Just when you think He's all you have, you’ll find He’s all you need.” When it feels like we are alone, He reminds us He will never leave us or forsake us. When we’re in our darkest hour, He gently whispers, “I’m here.” Although we battle not against flesh and blood, we have our Jesus who “ever liveth to make intercessions for us”. What a prayer partner! And we know which side will have the victory! So, don’t quit, don’t quit, don’t quit!
