The Need for Change!

Today lets have some fun. Though some of us may not see this as fun, and least it is a fun approach to what can be very serious hindrances in our lives:  The Need of Change, and not being able to find the changes we need. I certainly need to see some things change in me and around me, how about you? In fact I have quite a list of things that I would like to see different than they are. And I am thinking today that I am not the only one. In truth, everyone I know has talked to me about the need for change, or about what hasn't changed, and for many of us this is an ongoing story that seems to have no end. And so it is, as long as we are in this world. So it is a good thing to confront these things from time to time, then walk out what is given to us by God so that we can actually see the life giving changes our hearts cry out for.

Here is a top ten list of things that may indicate that we need some shifting in our lives to align us more with life giving actions.  (These are from my notes from one of our Upward Call Conferences: SHIFT)

  1. We are going a hundred miles an hour but we are getting nowhere fast
  2. We fear failure more than we expect success
  3. We keep doing things that are harmful to us and to others
  4. We battle continually with hopelessness and depression
  5. We have a hard time getting along with people
  6. Our idea of victory is survival
  7. We are more aware of what the devil is doing than we are aware of what God is doing
  8. When we think of doing something new, we talk ourselves out of it
  9. We live within the limits that our circumstances set for us
  10. Praise and worship is an endurance contest rather than a pleasure

In addition consider these things as well.

  1. Our past keeps telling us what our future will be like
  2. Our insecurities govern us
  3. The sabotage mechanisms in us are more powerful than the principles and abilities to succeed

What is it going to take to have the changes that we need?  First of all we must be able to see our need for change and be very tired of how things are now for us. Then a healthy faith expectation in God and what His word says to us which we participate in through prayer and listening to what God says and doing it.  We are called to be overcomers and more than conquerors through Christ Jesus our Lord, so we don't have to let any of these things stand in our way.  Call upon the Lord from the depths of our hearts, and He will meet us where we are and bring us out!
