Spring yesterday, Snow today....What?

So it is transition time between seasons here in New England, as it is in many other places in the Northern Hemisphere.  Some of us are earlier and some of us are later in this depending on where we are.  I know, for instance, winter still has a major grip in the North Country, while spring is in full swing in other places (like Oak Harbor, Washington)   But we are here, and have to go through what is here to get into the Spring we so long to see.

So the last couple of days, even the fragrance of Spring was in the air, sun shining upper 40's, looking good.  But this morning we wake up to snow (though I have been assured it won't pile up too much).  So, this sparked a question:  What am I going to believe?   The Calendar, or the window?  Spring is not all the way here even by the calendar, but it is close.  The window is closer.  Looks like winter to me.  But is it really the dead of winter?  No, it just is acting like it.

As believers, we are often thrust between two opinions.  And which one we believe will determine a lot of what we receive and walk in, how we relate, and how we respond.  One one hand we have the report of the Lord.  On the other hand we have what is out the window.  The report of the Lord is truth, while what is out the window is a fact, something that is happening.  The report of the Lord comes in His Word and through the revelation of the Holy Spirit.  What we see out the window comes through feelings, fears and observations.  The report of the Lord comes through the mind of the Spirit.  What is out the window comes through natural means.  The report of the Lord needs to be believed.  The window view can just be acceptance of circumstances that seem real.

So, what do we choose to believe.  This is not a new or original question, but it needs to be brought up from time to time, especially when what we see out the window is not any where close to what the Lord has been telling us.  No longer haulted between two opinions, and choosing to believe the report of the Lord will establish us in what He declares is truth.  We will see things conform to His Word, and we get to walk in faith and the peace that is established because we believe what the Lord is saying.  The window life view won't do that for us at all.  No, not at all.

So today, I see the snow falling, but I still believe it is a time of transition into Spring, and it won't be long now till I stand outside with the singing birds in the warm sun, and smell the fragrance of flowers, and hear the peepers peeping and walk on the grass green once more.
