I think we have some choices to make about how we are going to relate to bad news. By now there is probably no one left in America, or the rest of the world for that matter, that hasn't at least heard some bad news recently. But what do we do with all this bad news? Do we have any good news that would help us with this bad news. I believe we do.
We don't have to take bad news lying down. We don't have to bow our necks to all this, or get oppressed by it. We have been given authority in the earth in the name of Jesus. We need to rise up and begin to declare the Word of the Lord in faith, not just accept that things are bad and are gong to get worse. We can speak against these mountains. We can fight these Goliaths. We can stand up and not be beat down.
We are the salt of the earth. Let's get salty. We are the lights of the world. Let's get bright. We are the army of the Lord. Let's fight! We have been given authority and power and dominion over principalities and all other high things that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God. The forecast of bad news does not make it inevitable. It can be changed.
Your Kingdom come, your will be done in the earth is not a defeatist prayer of acceptance to bad news, but a strong appeal to heaven to stand against injustice, and to stand for righteousness.
There is something liberating about believing you can do something that will make a difference when things are bad. There is something depressing about thinking you can do nothing and that you are just a victim of circumstances. Let's choose liberty and freedom of action to bring bad news subject to good news.
