God gives dreams to those that He knows can fulfill them. On the surface this might look like a "no brainer" statement but lets consider a couple of things before we go running off with "I know that, so what?" If we have the capacity to dream a dream, to have God given vision, and revelations that concern what we are called to do, then we need to understand that we have been created with the God given capacity to fulfill those same dreams, visions and revelations. God doesn't make mistakes. He didn't give your dream to someone else, He gave it to you, a chosen vessel set apart for His purpose. He didn't give you a hope of a future that somehow you can't walk into. When He gives us a dream, a promise, and vision, He embeds it with His ability working in us to see them come to pass. What I am trying to say is that you are you, and the real Jesus simply wants to work with the real you, not the you you wish you could be, or think you need to be.
Through understanding that God knows who we are when He gives us a dream, and that He has chosen us because of who we are (not in spite of who we are), we can be set free from anything that resists us as we seek to walk out what He has given us to do. This doesn't mean we don't need to change, or grow or develop in our gifts and callings, but it does mean that you are always going to be you, and it is you that God wants to use.
Here are some of the things that are overcome by accepting that God designed us to fulfill the dream He has given us. Keep in mind that struggling with these things should remind us of our total dependency upon the Lord to work in us and through us to fulfill the dreams He has given us.
Just to name a few. All these things are really about how we see ourselves. So why did God give us dreams if we do struggle with these things? Because He knows that with Him, we can do them, that we are designed specially by Him to do them, and that we are free to do them. We don't need to try to be different to do what we haven't been able to do, we need to believe what God has said, and that will make us different: different in our understanding that we are free to fulfill the dream through who Christ is within us. Yes, within US! It is time for us to stop wishing we were someone else, or had someone else's abilities in order to fulfill our God given the dreams. Actually there is no better person in all of God's creation to do what He has given you to dream about. You are it, the chosen one, who is able to do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens you.
Accepting who God has made you to be, how you are wired, how your process things, how you fundamentally live your life as a believer is a very liberating thing. You are free in Christ Jesus to do all that He has called you do to. One more time, let me say, if He gave you the dream, then He knows you can fulfill it through who He is in your life.
God, please help me to accept who I am, who you have created me to be and how you have made me to live life. Help me to embrace the dream you gave me through the understanding that I am your choice for fufilling the dream you gave me - In Jesus I pray.
