The Holy Spirit was present in the days of creation giving form and shape to the declaration of the Word of God. The first two verses of the Bible (Genesis 1:1-2) reveal what the Holy Spirit was doing just before God said in verse 3, "Let there be light" which resulted in "and there was light." In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Just before the Lord gets ready to create, we find the Spirit of God hovering over what was without form, void and dark. He still does this. During the times in our lives when the Creator is getting ready to give form and shape to things that are without form and void He starts with the hovering presence of His Spirit. So many of us are aware that things need to be birthed, ministry directions need to be defined, vision needs to be formed. There is anticipation in the hearts of many the God "is up to something", but the something is still cloaked in darkness, without form and void. As we seek the Lord in these days we can expect some strong manifestations of the Spirit working deeply in our lives. He is getting us ready for the fulfilling of the declaration of His Word, the proclaiming of those things that are not as though they were.
We need to learn how to let the Spirit of the Lord "hover" over us, over our churches, over our families, over our involvements, for without Him we can do nothing. Recently, in one of our soaker meetings
here in Connecticut, we had this happen. It was an overpowering presence of the creative power of God. Our expectations have been strengthened by the knowledge that the Lord is giving form and shape to things in our lives that are without form and shape, light to that which has been in darkness and birth to that which we have been waiting for. I am praying that as you read this you be visited in much the same way, so that the creative power of God will fulfill what the Lord has been showing He wants to do in and through your life. May whatever is without form, void and in the darkness of mystery be established as you let the power of the Holy Spirit work mightily in you. Remember Zechariah 4:6 ...Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, Says the Lord of hosts.
