There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest... Hebrews 4:9-11 NKJV
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV
Do you have rest in your soul? Are you at home and at peace with where you are in your life? In the modern phraseology, are you a happy camper?
What does it mean to enter into rest? Simply put, when we lay down all our personal struggles, failures and inabilities and surrender them to the Lord, we receive in their place a rest. We know then that the Lord is going to do for us whatever we cannot do for ourselves. We make a trade-our efforts for His ability. It has been said that if we struggle to get something started in our own efforts, we will have to struggle to keep it going. This is our own works. When God establishes good things through us, then God will continue to accomplish what will need to be done. This is the work of God. We become more productive, passionately involved in people's lives and filled with zeal for fulfilling God's plans, while being at total rest within. This doesn't mean we won't have problems, hardships or trials. It does mean that we can freely draw out of the great treasure of this rest the God given resources of resilience and perseverance to overcome each one.
Those who enter into this rest know the will of the Lord and walk in it. Internal conflicts, worry, apprehension, and all general unrest disappear when we determine we are going to live in harmony with the works of God. We can expect to be at home in fellowship with the Lord in what we are doing, how we are living, and with whom we associate when we have entered into this rest that is promised us.
Here are some guidelines to help you live in this rest.
May you continue to grow in your relationship with the Lord. He is the source of your rest. Grow in Him and His peace and rest will grow in you.
